A fine dining journey
Hi there! My name is Matthias Ruhl, and this website chronicles some of my meals at fine dining restaurants all over the world. I am not a professional food critic, nor do I work in the industry, so please take everything herein with a grain of salt (or more according to taste).
My first experience with a Michelin-starred restaurant was in 2006, shortly after the first guide for the San Francisco Bay Area was released. It has been an ongoing hobby since then, often with travel planned around restaurants rather than the other way around. After the pandemic, I focused on a slightly more specific (and definitely more nutty) goal: to dine at all of the world’s three-Michelin-starred restaurants. On April 22, 2024, with a dinner at “Le Gabriel” in Paris, I had reached the finish line - visiting all 144 then current three-starred restaurants (while they actually held three stars). The German food blog Sternefresser and The Times (among others) reported on that milestone.
These pages contain my reports from these and other restaurants that I’ve visited since 2021.
Please enjoy!
